Medical Studies

The clinical assessment of the visible skin changes is still the basis for the differential diagnosis, diagnosis and treatment of a skin disease. Many pimples appear to look alike at first glance. Through close analysis of primary and secondary efflorescences a chronology can be reconstructed, pathological mechanisms can be associated and diseases can be distinguished.

The best exercise for a dermatologic view is the direct practice on patients. This is only very rarely possible. Three-dimensional wax models which appear absolutely true represent an excellent replacement.

The permanent exhibition at the museum is classified by the mandatory Swiss Catalogue of Learning Objectives for Undergraduate Medical Training and covers all the relevant training dermatoses.

In addition, quizzes in the cases help to find the right balance while studying. There are computer workstations available with access to digital teaching aids such as the online program DOIT.

Medical students always have access to the Museum. After deposition of a university ID card, they can get the museum key from the porter of building North 1 (entrance Gynecology of the University Hospital Zurich).
